72,000 pounds of Bumble Bee chicken salad

The Suter Company, Inc. is recalling 8.2-ounce packages of “Bumble Bee Lunch on the Run Chicken Salad Complete Lunch Kit” as well as 3.5-ounce packages of “Bumble Bee Chicken Salad with Crackers, because of customer complaints of finding pieces of hard plastic inside.

There have been no illnesses associated with the recall.

World’s most expensive sandwich?

UK£ 110.59 = 171.08273 U.S. dollars

This sandwich was created by chef Martin Blunos. It has a mayonaise made with quail eggs. He used 100 year old balsamic vinegar, cheese blended with white truffles and is topped with edible gold dust.

Martin Blunos has applied to Guinness World Records to have the sandwich recognized as the world’s most expensive.

This sandwich will replace this one for world’s most expensive.

380,000 Pounds Of Deli Meat Products Recalled

Zemco Industries, a Buffalo, N.Y., establishment, is recalling approximately 380,000 pounds of deli meat products that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. These products were distributed to delicatessens where they were further processed into sandwiches.  For more information (click here)

Egg Recall

Update:

Nearly 2000 people got sick from salmonella and uncovered evidence  shows that since 2008 the company at the center of this national outbreak recorded multiple positive tests for salmonella  that went unreported.

Salmonella Symptoms:  Diarrhea, fever, abdominal cramps, vomiting –  can last 4-7 days.
Treatment:  Drink lots fluids and  get plenty of rest.  Contact a doctor if symptoms are severe.

Egg Recall

550 million eggs are being recalled that were distributed in 22 states. This recall was due to a salmonella outbreak, linked to approximately 300 illnesses in the United States.

The recalled eggs are:

Wright County eggs, sold under the brand names Lucerne, Albertson, Mountain Dairy, Ralph’s, Boomsma’s, Sunshine, Hillandale, Trafficanda, Farm Fresh, Shoreland, Lund, Dutch Farms, Kemps, James Farms, Glenview, Pacific Coast, Alta Dena Dairy, Driftwood Dairy, Hidden Villa Ranch, Challenge Dairy, and Country Eggs.

Hillandale Farms eggs, sold under various brand names including Hillandale Farms, Sunny Farms, Sunny Meadow, Wholesome Farms and West Creek.
